Crystal Palace hijack Aston Villa move for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez | OneFootball

According to Daily Echo, Crystal Palace have reportedly moved to hijack Aston Villa’s pursuit of Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordóñez, agreeing a €30 million (£25.6m) deal plus add-ons, with the player also giving the green light.

The transfer is subject to a medical. Ordóñez is currently injured.

Villa turned to the Ecuador international after Saints rejected an £18m bid for Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

The 24-year-old has been left out of Saints’ last two matchday squads amid ongoing uncertainty over his future at St Mary’s. The club remain firm on his valuation after signing him permanently from Manchester City for £20m following a season on loan in 2024.

Palace have now moved ahead. A move to Selhurst Park would take one of Villa’s alternative defensive targets off the market, with Villa still needing at least one reinforcement.
