Crystal Palace are open to signing a centre-back before the winter transfer deadline today, according to Sky Sports.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner could do with more options in central defence following the departure of Marc Guehi.

The Eagles are monitoring the situation of things and will not hesitate to swoop for a centre-back if the opportunity arises ahead of the 7.00 pm deadline.

Moroccan defender Chadi Riad made his first start in 13 months against Nottingham Forest yesterday.

His return is a huge boost for Glasner, but they could do with quality reinforcements in the position.

Palace are keen on Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez after asking about him last week. However, they will only move for him if his asking price is reduced after his valuation put them off.

The Eagles signed Welsh attacker Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in January and will be hoping to get one or two more deals over the line before the transfer window closes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is expected to join them in a £48 million deal after undergoing his medical last night, while Jean-Phillipe Mateta could be on his way to AC Milan.

Palace have struggled in recent games, with no wins to their name in the last 12 games across all competitions.

They have lost eight of those matches and need some changes in their squad to get back on track ahead of the final 14 league fixtures of the season.
