Alexis Mac Allister’s 97th-minute strike sealed a 1-0 Liverpool win at the City Ground, a gut punch that sharpened focus on Nottingham Forest’s wasteful finishing under Vitor Pereira.

Nottingham Post highlights the sense of a heist. Pereira turned from the pitch and hit the dugout, later saying he was angry with football.

Forest dominated a vibrant first half, producing 12 attempts, the most before the break against Liverpool since 2015. VAR later chalked off a Mac Allister effort for handball. He then won it at the death after an offside check.

The issue is stark. Forest have fired 53 shots in their last two league games, 35 v Wolves and 18 here, without scoring. According to Opta, their 7.1% conversion rate is the division’s second worst.

Chris Wood’s absence bites. Igor Jesus has delivered in Europe but not yet domestically, and Lorenzo Lucca’s cameo was unconvincing. Pereira must find a spark.

After a full-strength win at Fenerbahce in Istanbul, an unchanged XI struggled with the quick turnaround. Fringe wingers Dilane Bakwa and Dan Ndoye made little impact, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Omari Hutchinson lacked final quality at times.

There were clear positives. Pereira’s front-foot approach looked balanced, with Ibrahim Sangare and Elliot Anderson excellent and Morgan Gibbs-White influential. Maintain this level and points could follow, but without goals the survival fight may go to the wire.
