Crystal Palace sign Guessand on loan, Mateta future hangs in the balance | OneFootball

Crystal Palace have announced the signing of forward Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, with the club having the option to make the move permanent.

The Ivorian becomes Palace’s second signing of the winter transfer window, following the arrival of Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 24-year-old joined Villa last summer after a promising campaign with Nice, where he won the club’s player of the season award.

However, he played second fiddle to Ollie Watkins at Villa, scoring twice in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Guessand will now hope to secure more opportunities with Palace.

Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to surround the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has told the club he wants to leave this month.

Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Mateta will not be involved in their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, although the decision has nothing to do ‘with a transfer’.

The French striker has agreed personal terms with AC Milan, but they have yet to agree a fee with Palace.
