Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Sunderland-linked Sidiki Cherif has paused, while Wrexham are weighing a £19 million move. RMC Sport reports negotiations with Angers have stalled after personal terms were agreed.

Football Insider claims the Welsh club are preparing a proposal that would be a Championship record if completed.

Palace are said to have stepped back, citing interference from English intermediaries that is blocking progress, and are exploring other attacking options, particularly after Jean-Philippe Mateta expressed a desire to leave this month.

Angers are understood to be waiting for another Palace offer. Cherif, a teenager, has scored four goals in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

Any Mateta exit would deepen a turbulent month for Palace, with captain Marc Guehi already joining Manchester City, Oliver Glasner confirming plans to walk away at the end of the campaign, and a winless run stretched to 10 after defeat to Sunderland. Glasner said he and his players had been abandoned by the board.

Wrexham sit two points outside the play-offs and include former Sunderland players Callum Doyle, George Dobson and Nathan Broadhead.
