Crystal Palace ‘to increase’ bid to €30 million for Matsima

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are in advanced talks with Augsburg over Chrislain Matsima, with a deal worth at least €30 million expected in the coming days.

Matsima remains in Augsburg while his club and Palace negotiate a summer move. Augsburg have declined two offers from the South London club for the 24-year-old centre-back.

The player has a full agreement with Palace, and the clubs are ironing out payment structure and bonuses. Once Augsburg give the green light, the transfer could progress quickly.

Pierre Sage’s side want the Frenchman to replace former Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, who is set to join Chelsea.

Any sale at this level would likely break Augsburg’s record outgoing fee, set by Abdul Rahman Baba’s €26 million move to Chelsea about a decade ago.
