Less than three weeks after Spain were crowned world champions on 19 July, Marc Cucurella and Gavi have kept their promises. The new Real Madrid player has had Luis de la Fuente's face tattooed, and the Barcelona midfielder has dyed his hair fuchsia pink.
According to Superdeporte, Cucurella's pledge went viral weeks before the final during an interview with Juanma Castaño. He said that if Spain won he would get the manager's face inked, calling it a keepsake.
10 days after the triumph he posted Instagram images of the tattoo with the caption "Promesa cumplida". The artwork shows de la Fuente holding the World Cup.
Gavi had vowed a radical change of look if Spain won, and on Thursday 6 August he shared two Instagram photos revealing fuchsia hair. His hairstylist Raúl Sanromá posted a video of the cut, bleach and dye, saying the promise had to be honoured.
Fans now await others. Álex Baena and Borja Iglesias also said they would tattoo de la Fuente's face, while David Raya mentioned a World Cup tattoo but not the manager's face.
Promises from Pedri and Ferran Torres remain. Pedri said he would dye his hair white or blonde, while the Valencian forward pledged to shave his head, and Princess Leonor later teased him at the Palacio de la Zarzuela.
Another focal point is Lamine Yamal, who promised on his YouTube channel to grow his beard and moustache for three weeks and to raffle 100 Beats headphones to his followers.
