According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konaté have joined Real Madrid’s pre-season after the World Cup and completed the first stage of their medicals alongside Kylian Mbappé at Ciudad Real Madrid. They will finish the tests after training at Hospital Blua Sanitas Valdebebas.

With the Catalan full-back and the Frenchmen involved, José Mourinho now has the full group for the rest of pre-season. Madrid face Deportivo at Riazor on Wednesday in the Trofeo Teresa Herrera, which will mark the Real Madrid debut of Ivorian Yan Diomande.

Cucurella and Konaté are the last new signings to report, following Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva and Carlos Espí. The trio will also take part in this morning’s session with the squad at reduced intensity.

Mourinho wants José Ángel Sánchez and Juni Calafat to trim numbers by moving on those not in his plans, with potential exits including Raúl Asencio and Eduardo Camavinga. Endrick is exploring a Premier League loan, and Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer that would be around €115 million for Arda Guler.

The coach has asked for a holding midfielder after the failed attempt to sign Rodri, plus a left-footed centre-back. He also says the squad needs another player who can do what Bernardo does, covering different roles and helping build play from deeper as a six or an eight.

After the Ferencvaros match, Mourinho said he felt Bernardo was short physically so he moved him to the 10, another position where the Portuguese is comfortable. He values Bernardo’s ability to operate across three or four roles in a deliberately short squad.
