Real Madrid star reveals his summer transfer message to Barcelona’s Rodri | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Marc Cucurella has this week admitted that he sent a personal message the way of compatriot Rodri, prior to the latter penning terms with Barcelona.

Midfielder Rodri was of course at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between Spanish football’s two leading clubs this past summer.

After making known his desire to bring a close to his Manchester City stint, the 30-year-old was sought out by those in a position of power at both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

In the end, the move came down to personal preference, with Rodri having opted for the former.

Prior to his call being made public knowledge, though, the World Cup winner received a message courtesy of one of the other summer recruits at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speaking during an interview with El Larguero this week, Marc Cucurella admitted:

“I sent him a subtle message before it (his decision) was known… I would have liked for him to be my teammate at Real Madrid.”
