BVB Has Recently Dominated the First Round of the Cup

Since 2006, Borussia Dortmund has cleared the first hurdle in the DFB Cup every year and won its first-round match. The last time BVB was eliminated in the first round was in 2005—back then, they lost 1–2 to second-division side Eintracht Braunschweig.

Return After 91 Years

The Hamburg Eimsbütteler Ballspiel Club has competed in the DFB Cup before, but that was an eternity ago. HEBC last participated in the German cup competition during its inaugural edition in 1935.

Jerseys: BVB to Wear Home Jerseys

HEBC will host Borussia Dortmund in its classic club colors—violet and white. This means BVB can easily take the field in its yellow jerseys (home kit), which were also worn on Saturday against HSV.

The game will be broadcast live on free-to-air TV on RTL and on Sky Sport. The match will also be streamed live on RTL+ and WOW. Pre-game coverage begins at 8:15 p.m. Wolff-Christoph Fuss will provide commentary.

Low-pressure system “Sina” will move across Hamburg during the day, bringing changeable and windy weather. However, the showers should ease off toward the evening, with temperatures still expected to reach 15 to 18 degrees.

Tickets: Over 40,000 tickets sold

Over 40,000 tickets have already been sold for the first-round DFB Cup match between fifth-division club HEBC and the German runner-up from Dortmund. Remaining tickets for the neutral spectator section are still available in the HEBC online ticket shop. The Volksparkstadion has a total capacity of around 57,000 seats.
