Tom Bischof spoke unusually openly about Bayern’s defensive vulnerability after the final whistle. The 20-year-old said on Sky’s microphone: „I think they could have scored five goals – not good from us at all“.

Vincent Kompany was also bothered by the fact that his team allowed their opponents to get more and more into the game. The Bayern coach explained: „At some point a team like Wolfsburg senses: ‚Hey, there might be a chance here.‘ Then they get the first chance and then the second. And that’s how you totally lose your momentum.“

In the end, a special moment from Michael Olise was enough to secure victory for Munich. The winger decided the game with a remarkable goal, while Wolfsburg failed to score despite numerous opportunities.

Following the narrow defeat, VfL remain in 16th place in the relegation places. On the final matchday, Wolfsburg will face FC St. Pauli, who are level on points. Dieter Hecking nevertheless took positives from the Bayern game: „Today we saw a team that believes in itself, that can play with intensity, that had a good basic structure – and that had the momentum in the game, where we could have pulled it to our side.
