Cyle Larin has been shortlisted for the Championship Player of the Month for August after a flying start at Southampton.

According to Daily Echo, the Canada international is among four nominees. He scored four goals in three Championship appearances in August.

His goals came in victories over Stoke City and Millwall, including a brace against Millwall, and in a draw with Birmingham City.

He returned from the World Cup invigorated and has established himself as one of the division’s leading forwards.

The 31-year-old produced the month’s standout moment against Millwall, flicking the ball over a defender before volleying home.

His form helped Saints start strongly despite a four-point deduction, with the Millwall thrashing the highlight.

Larin is up against Charlton Athletic defender Lloyd Jones, Middlesbrough striker Will Lankshear and Wolves attacking midfielder Fer Lopez.

Lankshear also scored four in August, including braces against Lincoln City and West Brom, after a high-profile July move to Boro.

Jones struck twice as Charlton won all three of their games, while Lopez contributed two goals and two assists in three matches.

The winner will be announced on Friday, September 11.
