De Telegraaf reports that Daley Blind is set to undergo medical tests on Friday before officially signing for Girona. The 33-year-old agreed a deal as a free agent with the La Liga club and the move is expected to be over the line soon. The experienced Dutch defender will have a brand new league to add to his CV. Blind has played in the Eredivisie, the Premier League and the Bundesliga. Now he’s set to sign for the side that finished 10th in La Liga last season.
Blind spent the first half of last season at Ajax, where he featured 19 times in all competitions. In January the former Manchester United man made the move to Bayern Munich. In total, he made just five appearances for the German champions totalling just 157 minutes worth of football. His contract officially came to an end on the 30th of June. Now, he’s close to completing a move to Girona.
Once the deal is done, Daley Blind will become the first Dutchman to play for the Catalan club. Blind himself has never played in Spain before. The 101-time Netherlands international’s experience will certainly help Girona progress in La Liga next season.
