Manchester United suffered a 1-0 loss to 10-man Manchester City. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Senne Lammens 6 – Made some good saves in the second half. Couldn’t do much about City’s opener.
Diogo Dalot 3 – Shocking. Sloppy with the ball, defensively frail, endured a rough game against Antoine Semenyo and had lapses in focus that nearly cost United dearly.
Harry Maguire 6 – Saw a lot of possession, came out on top in his aerial duels and was solid enough.
Lisandro Martinez 6- Same as his defensive partner.
Patrick Dorgu 2 – Another who was abysmal. Made an extremely costly mistake that led to a City goal against the run of play and completely deflated United, who were in the ascendancy at that time. Wasteful on the ball and offered no meaningful contributions at left-back.
Youri Tielemans 6.5 – Tidy in possession and unfortunate to be the first to come off, given just how poor his teammates were.
Kobbie Mainoo 7 – Strong in his challenges and recycled the ball well. Came close to giving United the lead with a superb strike but was thwarted by the post.
Bruno Fernandes 6 – Played Phil Foden to get the City star sent off. Set up two clear-cut chances for Rashford and Dalot in the first half and came close to a cheeky assist for Mainoo, but was otherwise quiet.
Bryan Mbeumo 4 – On the periphery for large parts. Had a golden chance to restore parity at the death but he couldn’t beat the goalkeeper.
Marcus Rashford 7 – United’s most dangerous attacker in yet another game. Took his man on at every opportunity and came painfully close to breaking the deadlock in the first half with his free-kick effort, which rattled the post.
Matheus Cunha 4 – Busy but ineffective in yet another game played as a makeshift nine, with his poor touches particularly worrying.
Benjamin Sesko 5 – Would have been gutted not to be named in the starting XI after his performance against Sabah. Gave United a present up front although he didn’t have much to pounce on.
Joshua Zirkzee 5 – On for the dying embers.
