Long-time Getafe star Damián Suárez is all set to leave the club over the coming days.
That’s according to a mounting number of sources in Spain, who point towards the defender preparing to terminate his contract at the Estadio Coliseum.
In news first revealed by Cadena SER, and since relayed by Diario Sport, it has been confirmed that Suárez has come to the decision to call time on his eight-year stint in the colours of the Azulones.
This comes with the 35-year-old having been offered a chance to return to his home continent.
A number of Brazilian clubs are understood to be expressing a keen interest in Suárez’s services, with Botafogo, as things stand, leading the race.
In turn, an announcement is expected to arrive over the coming days, that the Uruguayan international has come to a contract termination agreement with Getafe.
Suárez, for his part, has featured from the off in 16 of the club’s 22 La Liga outings across the season to date.
Just days on from the Spanish transfer window slamming shut, the news will therefore no doubt come as a heavy blow for José Bordalás and his squad.
