Dan James remained unused while Ethan Ampadu stood out as Wales lost 1-0 at home to Denmark on Sunday in their final Nations League match of the break.

Having started Wales’ previous two Nations League games, in Denmark and against Norway, the Leeds winger dropped to the bench, with Crystal Palace’s Brennan Johnson the only change. James had impressed in the 2-1 win over Norway. "Dan, I would have loved to have (started him), but he wasn't quite ready to play again today. The short recovery, time was against him. But we still hopefully might be able to use him from the bench as well because his quality is so impressive for us," he told Sgorio.

He did not come on, and a 75th-minute Rasmus Hojlund penalty proved the difference.

According to Wales Online, Leeds captain Ampadu impressed again in central midfield and was given 8/10, praised for composure, a game-high tackle count and key interventions to halt Denmark moves.

Leeds youngster Jayden Lienou was also among the substitutes, having not featured in Wales’ three previous Nations League fixtures during this break.
