Sunderland face a defining final week of the window, with Dan Neil’s exit under discussion and Arthur Masuaku closing on a loan departure, as Régis Le Bris weighs late moves. The deadline lands an hour before Burnley visit the Stadium of Light on 2 February.

Le Bris has acknowledged Neil could be close to leaving, with the midfielder now into the final six months of his deal. Sunderland Echo reports that Neil missed the 3-1 defeat at West Ham after managing a minor muscle issue, with all parties opting against risk as a possible move advances.

Le Bris said a departure before the deadline remains possible and nothing is yet official. Interest has grown, with Rangers are known admirers, Sheffield United credited with interest, West Ham reported to be monitoring and Ipswich believed to be keen.

Masuaku is on the brink of joining RC Lens on loan for the rest of the season. A deal between the clubs is understood to be agreed and a medical was expected within 24 hours.

Sunderland are keeping options open on Chris Rigg’s short-term future, with a late loan not ruled out as the window enters its final stages.
