Daniel Alves has become co-owner of SC Sao Joao de Ver, a Portuguese third division club, with the move made official on Thursday. The team are currently bottom of their group.

ESPN reports that the former Brazil international is considering a return to professional football, potentially signing for the same club from January to June 2026.

The right-back spent 2008 to 2016 at Barcelona, then returned from November 2021 to 2022.

Alves, 42, has not played since eight January 2023 with Pumas UNAM in Mexico, where he featured for half a season.

He was acquitted in a rape case, and has since been working as a preacher at a church in Girona.
