Daniel Farke has selected an unchanged Leeds United XI to face Manchester City at Elland Road, with James Justin again at centre-back and Jaka Bijol among the substitutes.
As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the visitors’ headline is Erling Haaland’s absence from the matchday squad.
The Leeds-born striker is not fully fit and is replaced by Rayan Cherki in the only change to Pep Guardiola’s side, while Jeremy Doku returns from injury to take a place on the bench.
Farke said on Thursday that Gabi Gudmundsson had recovered from the illness that forced his half-time withdrawal in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa. After a full week without a game, the left-back starts.
At Villa, Bijol was benched as Justin partnered Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk in a three-man axis, then moved to left-back when Bijol came on for Gudmundsson at the break.
Noah Okafor is Leeds’ only absentee, the Swiss winger continuing his recovery from the hamstring injury sustained late in the FA Cup tie at Birmingham City. He was expected to be out for two to four weeks.
Leeds United: Darlow, Bogle, Justin, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Ampadu, Gruev, Stach, Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin. Subs: Perri, Bornauw, Bijol, Longstaff, Tanaka, James, Gnonto, Nmecha, Piroe.
Manchester City: Donnarumma, Nunes, Dias, Guéhi, Ait-Nouri, Rodri, Bernardo (C), O’Reilly, Semenyo, Cherki, Marmoush. Subs: Trafford, Reijnders, Stones, Ake, Doku, Nico, Savinho, Khusanov, Foden.
