Daniel Farke has delivered a timely lift for Leeds United, with Gabi Gudmundsson and Willy Gnonto due to rejoin training on Friday ahead of their first home Premier League match. He also kept open the possibility that Ilia Gruev could be involved if required.

As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Gudmundsson and Gnonto have not featured this season after hamstring injuries in friendlies, Gudmundsson against Liverpool in America and Gnonto versus Manchester United in Dublin. Earlier in the week, Farke hoped the pair would be back on the grass soon, possibly this week.

Speaking at Thorp Arch on Friday afternoon, Farke said both would link up with the group for the first time and that their reactions would be assessed afterwards. He added the squad was otherwise available.

Gruev only returned to full training last week and, earlier, Farke had indicated the midfielder would need at least two weeks before selection. On Friday he suggested the Bulgarian could still be used if needed, though the usual step would be minutes with the under-21s first.

Leeds host Brentford at Elland Road on Sunday. Final decisions will hinge on how Gudmundsson and Gnonto come through their return.
