Daniel Farke has been shortlisted for April’s Premier League Manager of the Month after steering Leeds United closer to safety.
Leeds put together back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, then drew 2-2 at Bournemouth to reach 40 points. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, one more victory could effectively secure another top-flight campaign.
Farke is on a seven-man list with West Ham’s Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest’s Vitor Pereira, Pep Guardiola, Arne Slot, Andoni Iraola and Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler.
Public voting is open until 12pm on Monday, 4 May, with ballots combined with an expert panel to decide the winner.
Leeds could complete a double, with Noah Okafor up for Player of the Month after scoring both goals in the Old Trafford win, then a goal and assist in the 3-0 over Wolves.
Farke said his players have shown desire and want to keep pushing respectfully, staying focused with 12 points still to fight for. He added that another win would ease pressure and that securing points early would help.
Leeds host Burnley on Friday, with Mike Jackson installed as interim after Scott Parker’s exit. Victory would take them to 43 points, a total that has never led to relegation in a 20-team Premier League. Burnley were relegated after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City and have won only four league games this season.
