Leeds United and Manchester United meet on Sunday lunchtime at Elland Road with extensive absentee lists, with 12 players expected to miss out after Daniel Farke’s update. According to Leeds Live, both clubs have key men sidelined.

Leeds come into the game after a goalless draw with Liverpool on New Year’s Day. Farke outlined that Daniel James, Sean Longstaff and Joe Rodon will be out, with Ethan Ampadu serving a one match ban. He said choices would hinge on who recovers, with Ilia Gruev a natural option, and insisted Leeds will field 11 players.

Manchester United drew with Wolves and have one win in their last four league matches. Head coach Ruben Amorim indicated he did not expect any injured players to return in time.

For Leeds, James is sidelined with a hamstring problem, Longstaff has a calf issue and Rodon has an ankle injury. Ampadu misses out through suspension after five yellow cards this season.

For Manchester United, Bryan Mbeumo is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon. Bruno Fernandes has a muscle problem from last month’s loss to Aston Villa and Matthijs de Ligt is dealing with a back issue.

Amad is with Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations. Mason Mount is unavailable after an issue in the win over Newcastle on Boxing Day. Kobbie Mainoo has a calf complaint, Harry Maguire a thigh problem, and Noussair Mazraoui is with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
