VAR again dominated the Premier League weekend, and Leeds United's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City rekindled debate among supporters. According to Leeds Live, Daniel Farke's red card stemmed from anger over stoppage time not being extended after perceived City time-wasting, rather than any VAR call.
Fans pointed to a late cross that struck Matheus Nunes' arm in the area, which was checked then cleared as his arm was deemed in a natural position. They also highlighted Rayan Cherki's tread on Ilia Gruev, whether deliberate or not.
Farke could not discuss VAR after the match, a media ban follows a red card under Football Association rules.
Asked in January for a general view, he called the subject difficult and said he did not hold strong feelings either way. He felt VAR should be used to correct clear and obvious mistakes and that it can make outcomes fairer.
He voiced doubts around offside decisions if technology errs or requires hand-drawn lines. He said he supports VAR only when it produces objective, neutral outcomes, while recognising it can take some emotion out of the sport.
Earlier on Saturday, Burnley had two goals disallowed in a 4-3 defeat to Brentford for handball and a marginal offside. Scott Parker described the experience as heartbreaking but accepted the decisions.
