Daniel Farke is in his strongest position as Leeds United manager, with his side fifth after five matches, unbeaten and having conceded a joint-low three. Less than a year after doubts over his job, calls for a new deal have grown.

According to Leeds Live, he is into the final year of his contract and no extension is signed, though talks remain active and productive. Club and manager are aligned on the long-term project, which Farke had said was key in May.

The hierarchy stress there is no transfer-style deadline, so there is time to shape terms that suit all sides. Managing director Robbie Evans says the relationship has strengthened and that Leeds want him to stay long term.

After the League Cup defeat to Chelsea, Evans said talks with Farke and his representatives had gone well over the past three months, that a deal was not yet done, and that the club were working towards a long-term solution, with updates to follow.

The picture looks positive, with progress made and both sides aligned on the main points. Even so, leverage can shift if results dip, and nothing is certain until a contract is signed. Farke has yet to set out his full view.
