Leeds United’s Luke Matykiewicz joins Ilkeston Town on short-term youth loan

Leeds United academy defender Luke Matykiewicz has joined Ilkeston Town on a short-term youth loan.

The club said in a statement that the centre-back heads to the Northern Premier League side to seek senior minutes.

The Northern Ireland youth international agreed a two-year contract earlier this summer, his first professional deal with the club.

The nineteen-year-old’s under-21 game time this season has been limited, though he has featured in the EFL Trophy and the National League Cup.

The club will monitor his progress during the loan and have wished him well.
