Daniel Maldini has had his driving licence suspended after a car crash in Milan on Sunday. The Cagliari player returned an alcohol reading above the legal limit.

According to L'Équipe, he was among six people with minor injuries after a collision involving his Porsche Carrera 4 at around 5.15am. The crash involved another vehicle.

The son of Paolo Maldini was taken to hospital then discharged later the same day. The 24-year-old midfielder also underwent a drugs test, with results expected in three or four days.

His lawyer has not commented. The Italy international has six caps.

On Saturday he scored the winning penalty in Cagliari’s 2-1 victory over Atalanta Bergamo.
