Daniel Maldini failed a breathalyser following a car accident in Milan, ANSA reports.
The Italy international had converted the winning penalty in last night’s 2-1 Serie A victory away to Atalanta in Bergamo.
In the early hours he was driving his Porsche Carrera in Milan when he was involved in a collision. He was assessed in A&E, then discharged and returned home, his lawyer Danilo Buongiorno said.
The breath test reportedly produced readings of 0.91 mg/l and 0.89 mg/l, slightly above the Italian legal limit of 0.8 mg/l.
Local police confiscated his driving licence pending more specific hospital blood tests, which will also check for other substances. Daniel is the son of Milan and Italy great Paolo Maldini and turns 25 next month.
