Lazio forward Daniel Maldini will miss Sunday’s Serie A trip to Torino after being left out of the travelling squad with an ankle knock.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Atalanta loanee has a slight ankle issue and stayed at Formello, and there is hope he could return for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Atalanta. The same outlook applies to Toma Basic and Mario Gila, who trained separately this week and are also out of the Torino game.
The 24-year-old has been a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri, often used as a centre-forward since arriving on loan in January. He has yet to score for Lazio, though his work rate and technique have impressed the coach, who wants more runs into the box.
Other absentees are Samuel Gigot, Elseid Hysaj and Nicolo Rovella, who underwent surgery on Monday. Manuel Lazzarri is available again.
With Maldini sidelined, Petar Ratkov is the favourite to lead the line against Torino, with Mattia Zaccagni and Gustav Isaksen in support.
