Danilo Barbosa signs for Grémio under Luís Castro on deal to 2028 | OneFootball

Danilo Barbosa has signed for Grémio. The 30-year-old midfielder leaves Al-Ula of Saudi Arabia’s second division and returns to the club where he came through the academy. He has agreed a contract until 2028.

He will work again under Portuguese coach Luís Castro, having previously been together at Botafogo. According to Glorioso 1904, he is expected to arrive in Brazil over the weekend.

Barbosa is seen as cover following the loan departure of Leonel Pérez to Racing in Argentina. The move adds experience to Grémio’s midfield group.

After rising through Grémio’s ranks, he featured for Vitória da Bahia and Vasco da Gama before moving to Portugal, where he played for Benfica. His career has since spanned Brazilian and European football.

He becomes Grémio’s sixth signing of this window, joining Jovane Cabral, Filip Krovinović, Matheus Nascimento, Wallace and Diego Caito.
