Danilo reveals son supports Fluminense and says there is no going back | OneFootball

Flamengo centre-back Danilo has lifted the lid on a split household, revealing one of his two sons is a Fluminense supporter. The 2025 Libertadores hero said the youngster has stuck with it despite Flamengo-heavy families on both sides.

On the pitch, Danilo hit the winner in the 2025 Libertadores final against Palmeiras in Lima, delivering Flamengo’s fourth title. They also won the Carioca on eight March at the Maracanã after a 0-0 draw with Fluminense, edging the shootout 5-4 as goalkeeper Rossi saved two.

"His mother's side are largely Flamengo, but there are three or four Fluminense fans who are the resistance. My family are completely Flamengo. He embraced the idea of being a Fluminense fan and there is no going back." He was speaking on Papo de Segunda on GNT.

"When I told him I was coming to Flamengo, he stopped talking to me. That night, he cried a lot, locked himself in the bathroom, and fell asleep crying his eyes out."

Danilo has two sons, João and Miguel, with Clarice Sales, and the pair are separated but say they remain on good terms. The 35-year-old is under contract at Flamengo until the end of this year.

The schedule is paused for the FIFA window between 21 September and six October. Six Flamengo players were called up, including Pedro, Samuel Lino, Arrascaeta, Varela and Anthony Valencia, and the team are due back on eight October at Santos in the Brasileirão.
