Danish FA will not back Gianni Infantino after fundamental crisis of trust

The Danish FA said on Friday that Gianni Infantino had triggered a fundamental crisis of trust in FIFA, and it will not support him when the presidency is contested on 18 March 2027 at the 77th Congress in Rabat, Morocco.

Infantino has been under fire since he unveiled, then dropped, a plan to privatise part of the World Cup. The Danish federation has now moved to distance itself.

Neither subsequent apologies nor the withdrawal of the proposal change its stance. The federation did not back the 56-year-old at the 2022 vote.

Working with UEFA and international colleagues, it aims to ensure member associations have a real choice in 2027, with a credible alternative able to unite FIFA and restore trust.

The nomination deadline is 18 November, and so far no other candidate is known. The federation wants a new FIFA president, and will join UEFA boycott threats at future FIFA competitions if necessary guarantees are not provided that tournaments will not be opened to private investors.
