Danny Rohl adds another lower league staffer to Rangers’ roster

Hot on the heels of Leyton Orient’s Scott Fry arriving in Govan comes the latest ‘game-changing’ addition in the form of 22-year-old Tristan Steiner from some lower league German mob.
This is the second Danny Rohl appointment in a row and we’re struggling to see how a kid in front of a laptop is the answer to our problems.
Fry himself was just a League One nobody – sure, Orient were pretty competent at set pieces, but then that’s League One, not Rangers. The standards are a bit different here, and in the first match with him in tow Rangers conceded probably the worst aerial ball goal we’ve seen in months.
We don’t know anything about Steiner, but it’s just lower league slop again, as Rangers’ descent into ‘Motherwell’ territory continues.
Appointing a lad who’s only just graduated from university (paraphrase) doesn’t to us scream of the move that will take our club back to the top.
Indeed, we cannot blame Kevin Thelwell for anything anymore – he might have left a mess, but Rohl is adding his own variation to that mess.
We’re quite sure the usual folks will scream ‘give him time ffs’ as they do to literally everything these days, let them. We got the abuse for this stuff all year when it was Russell Martin, and then the same fans were chanting ‘Martin GTF’. Que sera.
We’re not going to leap up and down with joy that a German lad with an iPad has joined us.
Compare this to the stuff of yesterday. All the top flight staff Rangers used to have – Walter himself, Archie, Van Lingen, Gary Mac, even Michael Beale (in that assistant role). Now it’s some punter Danny Rohl worked with at Sheffield and another guy who looks remarkably LIKE Beale…
We can’t really get excited about the shape of things, but we also know we can’t seem to get much better than a guy like Steiner.
Such is life at Rangers these days.
Still, at least the training kit is nice.
