Darlan, a Grêmio academy midfielder, has joined Buriram United in Thailand on a two-year contract running to mid-2028, with the move announced on Tuesday.
According to Globo.com, he left Portuguese side Santa Clara as a free agent at the end of his deal and had been keen to return to Asia.
Buriram’s infrastructure and standing in the region, with regular participation in the Asian Champions League, were factors in the agreement. The club are the most successful, with 12 titles, and have won the past five editions.
He came through at Grêmio and had stints with Juventude and Chapecoense in Brazil, then moved to Levski Sofia in Bulgaria and Wuhan Three Towns in China, before spending last season at Santa Clara.
He settled well in China and wanted to return to the continent, and the chance at Buriram suited him. The club have also added Brazilians Paulo Henrique, Nathan and Caju, while former Athletico, Avaí and Ceará striker Guilherme Bissoli is among his team-mates.
