Peterborough United United have sacked manager Darren Ferguson after a poor run of results left the club bottom of League One.
The decision came just hours after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Blackpool, which saw Posh remain 24th in the table with only 10 points from 13 games.
Ferguson, son of Sir Alex Ferguson, leaves the club for the fourth time, ending his latest spell that began in 2023.
Despite guiding Peterborough to four promotions and three EFL Trophy wins across his various stints, this season’s form has been dire - just three wins and nine defeats, with 22 goals conceded in 13 League One games.
Owner Darragh MacAnthony described Ferguson as the “greatest manager in the club’s history” but admitted change was needed with the team five points adrift of safety.
The club has struggled since losing key players over the summer, and attention now turns to who will take over as Posh look to revive their season.
