David Beckham has become the first British athlete with a personal fortune above £1 billion, according to The Sunday Times’ 2026 rich list. The former England captain and his wife Victoria now sit among the UK’s wealthiest figures.
Aged 51, the ex Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is listed with wealth of more than £1.185 billion, roughly €1.36 billion.
Within sport, he ranks second among British sporting figures, behind former Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone.
His fortune reflects a blend of an elite playing career and post-retirement business. Since stepping away in 2013, he has built global partnerships and fashion ventures and is a co-owner of Inter Miami, home to Lionel Messi, which can help drive the club’s appeal and revenues.
Alongside Victoria Beckham, he has accelerated his business trajectory. Compared with the 2025 list, the couple’s wealth has doubled from an estimated £500 million.
