David Concha has retired from football at 29, announcing his decision in October 2026. According to Diario Vasco, the former Racing de Santander forward last reappeared with Gimnàstic de Tarragona, playing the 2025 promotion play-off to Segunda against Sanse.

Signed by Real Sociedad for €1 million when he was 18 and impressing at Racing, the move never delivered. He made only 11 competitive appearances for Real Sociedad, recording no goals and no assists.

In a farewell message, he said closing this chapter was hard, that he waited before going public, and that football brought both joy and spells when escaping the slump felt almost impossible. He added he feels proud and grateful for what he experienced and shared.

After agreeing a five-year deal in 2015, and finding no place under successive coaches, he went on loans to Numancia, Barcelona B and Gamba Osaka, where he also featured for the reserves.

Injuries shaped his path too. A heavy contusion in 2017 sidelined him for about 100 days, then a serious hip problem in 2018 kept him out for close to half a year and required several operations.

Concha played eight top-flight matches and none in Europe. Across 273 professional games he tallied 25 goals and 19 assists, representing clubs that included Racing de Santander, Badajoz, Hammarby IF and Racing de Ferrol.
