David Ornstein's cryptic Liverpool transfer update as "key talks" held over Barcola | OneFootball

It’s slightly hard to work out what’s going on with the Bradley Barcola to Liverpool transfer saga as David Ornstein has posted an interesting update.

We’ve reported in the last few days that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain remain far apart in their valuation of Barcola, and there’s not much to suggest that that’s changing.

Overall, it sounds like Liverpool are still really keen to make this happen, while Barcola himself is also committed to getting the move to Anfield.

However, it’s also not exactly encouraging, with further details in the Athletic‘s report making it clear that PSG want £145m for the 23-year-old, while LFC are looking to get a deal done for closer to £100m.

Can Liverpool and PSG reach a breakthrough on Bradley Barcola?

As things stand, it doesn’t sound like much has changed despite this saga dragging on for weeks now, so what happens next?

Our information has been that Arsenal could still come back into the picture, so Liverpool might want to get a move on and pay up to land the world class winger signing they so urgently need.

At the same time, it’s also hard not to see £145m for Barcola as crazy money, even in this inflated market.

The France international is not a regular starter for PSG and there’s no telling how he’d adapt to playing in a far more competitive league.

Chelsea paid less for Morgan Rogers, who stood out at Aston Villa, indicating that he could surely make the step up to playing for one of the big six clubs.

Barcola would be more of a gamble, so perhaps Liverpool would be better off sticking to their valuation, or to simply be patient and hope that PSG’s asking price for a want-away player drops closer to the end of the window.
