David Pagou on Monday named a much younger Cameroon squad for September’s AFCON qualifiers against Comoros on 24 September and Congo on 29 September, according to L'Équipe.
Appointed in December 2025, just before the finals in which the Indomitable Lions were beaten 2-0 by Morocco, Pagou has opted for a reset.
Baleba, injured, was already out, while Onana, Aboubakar, Choupo-Moting, Wooh, Tolo, Dina Ebimbe, Anguissa, N'Koudou and Moukoudi are not included.
Teenage forward Angel Yondjo, 19, newly arrived at Lille to bolster the reserves, is called up. Bill Nsongo, a 21-year-old Deportivo La Coronne defender, earns a first selection, while Emmanuel Moungam, 20, of Landskrona Bois in Sweden’s second tier, returns after a March call.
Further youthful picks include Christian Kofane of Bayer Leverkusen, aged 20, Mahamadou Nagida of Rennes, 21, and Junior Samuel Kotto of Reims, 23. The choices underline Pagou’s wish to trust younger players for this window.
