Sheffield Wednesday owner David Storch will be excited by the news of Portsmouth's swoop for a striker for one key reason

It's been an incredibly busy summer at Sheffield Wednesday so far, as the Owls prepare for life back in League One under fresh ownership, and the incomings to Hillsborough don't look like slowing down anytime soon.

Sheffield Wednesday have been one of the busiest clubs in the entire EFL so far this summer, having already completed deals for five players.

Ricardo Santos has joined from Bolton Wanderers, Jordi Liongola has signed from Belgian outfit RAAL La Louviere, Callum Slattery has made the move from Motherwell, Sil Swinkels joins from Aston Villa, and, most recently, Harry Gray has been loaned in from Leeds United.

Barry Bannan looks to be edging ever closer to re-joining the club from Millwall on top of that, whilst Joe Lumley, following his emergency loan last season, has been touted with a return to the Owls.

Certainly then, Wednesday will look like a completely different outfit upon their return to the third tier, and with business likely only just beginning, there is a lot to be excited about for Owls supporters.

With Gray adding another option up top, Wednesday owner David Storch will be fixated on the goings-on at Portsmouth at the moment, with another potential deal now looking to be on the cards after recent transfer business at Fratton Park.

With five already through the door at Hillsborough, Wednesday's summer business is just beginning.

Since Storch assumed control back in May after the club entered administration, ending Dejphon Chansiri's rein in charge, optimism has been through the roof in South Yorkshire as the club enters a new era.

Henrik Pedersen will spearhead their return to League One next season after overseeing their Championship campaign in difficult circumstances, as the Dane looks for an immediate route back to the Championship next year.

With Gray adding another option up top, Wednesday don't look to be done there, with Portsmouth striker Colby Bishop having been linked with a switch to Hillsborough over recent weeks.

Bishop, 29, has hit double digits in three of his last four seasons for Pompey, though he suffered a disappointing drop-off last campaign, with just three league goals in 42 appearances.

However, with 72 goals and 16 assists in exactly 200 games in League One, the former Accrington Stanley forward knows how to find the back of the net in the third tier, and, entering what should be the prime of his career, would be an incredible option for Wednesday.

Now, Storch will be keeping an eye on Portsmouth's recent transfer activity with great interest, as Pompey are set to complete a deal worth around €6 million (£5.1 million) for Serbian striker Marko Milovanovic from Spanish side Almeria.

Milovanovic, 22, spent last season on loan with Alverca in Portugal's top flight, scoring nine and assisting two in 31 league games, with most of those appearances often coming as a substitute.

The towering forward will almost certainly be Pompey's primary centre-forward heading into next campaign, leaving Bishop out in the cold, and as a result, could push toward the exit door.

Wednesday have already made their interest in the 29-year-old clear, and should Bishop angle for more game time next season, an exit ought to be on the cards, and South Yorkshire seems like an obvious destination.

Storch will be eagerly awaiting how the situation at Fratton Park unfolds, as a move for Bishop looks increasingly likely to be an avenue that the Owls can explore.

With Wednesday showing some serious statements of intent ahead of next season, Pedersen will be keen to see recruits continue to flow through the door at Hillsborough.

Ike Ugbo isn't expected to play much of a role next season, with a summer exit likely, whilst Jerry Yates has returned to his parent club following the conclusion of his loan, leaving Jamal Lowe, William Grainger, and the incoming Gray as Pedersen's options up top.

Lowe has proven to be a solid goalscorer at that level in years gone by, but Bishop is a different beast, and his addition would be a greater guarantee of goals than any of their other current options.

Pedersen must use Portsmouth's recent transfer business to Wednesday's advantage, as Bishop ought to be on his way through the Hillsborough doors sooner rather than later.
