Davide Ancelotti set out his plans as LOSC head coach at his presentation on Thursday, having been appointed on 1 June. According to L'Équipe, he addressed scrutiny over his experience and surname, saying he aims to convince quickly.
He reported for duty on 7 July, the day after Brazil’s World Cup exit, having worked as Carlo’s assistant. This is only his second job as No 1 after five months at Botafogo last year, now at the helm of a Champions League club.
Ancelotti underlined a long apprenticeship as an assistant at Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton from 2016 to 2021, then at Real Madrid between 2021 and 2024. He intends to apply what he learned to Lille.
He downplayed the son-of label, describing it as neither a weight nor a pressure. He wants to write his own story, with his father available if he needs advice.
Without naming predecessor Bruno Genesio, now coaching OM, he praised the foundations and targeted energy, discipline and courageous football without changing everything.
Luis Tevenet, 52, is his deputy after working with Diego Simeone at Atlético de Madrid. Andy Mangan, 39, will focus on the attack, Diego Nogales, 44, on defence and set pieces, with Mickaël D’Amore, Rémy Vercoutre and Benoît Delaval completing the staff. The first friendly is behind closed doors against La Louvière on Saturday at 17:00.
