Preview: DC United vs. LAFC

Kickoff: 7:30 pm ET / 4:30 pm PT @ Audi Field, Washington, DCHow to watch live: Streaming on Apple TV

DC United enters this match after four games without a victory. In their most recent match, on Aug. 22, they lost 3-1 to Charlotte. Louis Munteanu scored the only goal for René Weiler’s team in the 55th minute. However, David Schnegg scored in the 64th minute, Will Clary in the 66th, and Pep Biel in the 77th to seal the win for the visitors.

Before this defeat, DC United had suffered another disastrous loss to New England Revolution, 3-0. Before that, they drew 1-1 against CF Montréal and started August with a 2-2 draw against Nashville.

Therefore, DC United’s last victory dates back to July 25, when they defeated Toronto FC 2-1 in the final minutes. DC currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference in MLS with 24 points after 21 matches played.

Meanwhile, LAFC does not have the urgent need for points that DC has. Marc Dos Santos’ team currently sits third in the Western Conference with 35 points after 22 matches.

That said, their current form is not as impressive as their position in the standings might suggest. In their most recent match, they drew 1-1 against Portland Timbers, with a goal from Denis Bouanga in the 79th minute. David Da Costa had given the visitors the lead in the fourth minute.

Before that, they lost 1-0 to Colorado Rapids on Aug. 19. They also lost 1-0 to San Diego FC on Aug. 15, and at the beginning of the month they played their three group-stage matches in the 2026 Leagues Cup, in which they surprisingly defeated Toluca 1-0 but could not get past 1-1 draws against either Chivas or Querétaro. Despite winning both matches in penalty shootouts they were just edged out of the top four.

Players to Watch & Match Prediction

DC United’s two main threats should be Peglow, a 24-year-old Brazilian left winger with four assists and one goal this season, and center forward Louis Munteanu, also 24, from Romania, with six goals and one assist this season. Both players are in good form, and it is just a matter of them getting back on track to threaten opponents.

On the other hand, LAFC has superstars on its roster and players of the caliber of Bouanga, with four assists and 11 goals this season, or Son Heung-min, with eight assists and four goals this season.

However, another threat and key piece is in midfield, where Marky Delgado has two assists and two goals this season and serves as the team’s engine.

DC doesn’t seem likely to get back on track anytime soon, but it looks like a great opportunity for the California team to give its fans another victory, even if it’s away from home.

Match Prediction: DC United 1-2 LAFC
