David De Gea has again teased Manchester City, posting a four-word message on X after the Premier League set out guilty findings over financial breaches. Football Italia reports that the Fiorentina and former Manchester United goalkeeper weighed in on Tuesday.

The Premier League said City were guilty of all charges linked to serious financial rule breaches and most over failure to co-operate.

An independent commission found City used sham contracts, misstated accounts and hid the true state of finances from auditors. It also ruled the club significantly breached Premier League and UEFA spending limits and failed to act with co-operation and good faith during the investigation. The case covers 2009-10 to 2017-18, with charges filed in 2023.

City said they would pursue the available avenues of appeal, arguing the opinion contained clear material errors in law, principle and fact and was unsafe.

Debate has focused on potential sanctions if verdicts stand, including unprecedented fines, points deductions and possibly titles being stripped.

When reports last week said City had been found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought, De Gea joked, “So, let’s talk. How many Premier League titles have I won then?”

He returned to the theme on Tuesday evening, posting, “So, we’re talking again …”

The literal answer to his question is one, United’s 2012-13 title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season. Hypothetically he was nodding to 2011-12 and 2017-18, when United finished second to City. Even so, United are unlikely to be retrospectively awarded those titles.
