Óscar de Marcos returns to Lezama to join Edin Terzic’s backroom team at Athletic as head of player development.
According to as.com, the former club stalwart will work alongside Sebastian Geppert, who becomes assistant and head of analysis, and Peter Gaydarov, appointed assistant with responsibility for training and player transition at Lezama.
De Marcos, 37, a year on from retirement, will focus on individual and collective development and help players adapt and connect with the first-team group.
German coach Geppert, 42, has been Terzic’s right-hand man, serving as his assistant during Terzic’s two seasons at Borussia Dortmund. He spent a decade at the club, including eight years in the academy.
Gaydarov, 35, arrives from Bayern Munich, where he coached the under-19s and led their Youth League side this season. He had six years at the Bavarian club after an earlier spell in youth development at Nurenberg.
