De Roon joins Roma from Atalanta, given No 15 shirt | OneFootball

Marten De Roon has completed a permanent move to Roma from Atalanta and will wear the No 15 shirt. The club said in a statement on Sunday night.

He made 445 appearances for Atalanta, producing 23 goals and 32 assists. The Dutch midfielder has 44 caps and featured at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.

De Roon, 35, leaves Bergamo after 10 years. Gian Piero Gasperini departed Atalanta in 2025, with De Roon then playing under Ivan Juric and Raffaele Palladino in 2025-26.

Atalanta have strengthened in central midfield with Gianluca Gaetano and Franck Kessié this summer. Roma are about to send El Aynaoui to RB Leipzig on loan with an option to buy.

Roma visit Lecce on Monday, 31 August, in Serie A Round 2, after a 4-0 home win over Fiorentina in the opener.
