Liverpool have agreed a deal and have secured their new Philippe Coutinho in the process.

What a wonderful footballer the Brazilian was. Sure, Coutinho left the Reds on sour terms. But looking back with hindsight no one can begrudge his decision, and the money the Reds recouped from his sale helped to buy Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

All in all, you'd say that was a pretty good deal for everyone involved - perhaps except for Barcelona.

But with hindsight you can also appreciate the wonderful quality Coutinho had. He was a magician. Someone who played that no.10 role with perfection.

Coutinho could skip past defenders with ease; he could unlock any defence, and he was just a really intelligent player who always had the vision the technical quality to find his teammates.

Florian Wirtz is struggling to be Liverpool's next Coutinho

When the Reds spent all that money on the German, it felt like for the first time in many years Liverpool had discovered the heir to Coutinho's throne.

But Wirtz has struggled to adapt to English football. Unlike, Coutinho who settled in with ease Wirtz isn't yet catching the eye.

He seems to be a little off pace, a little indecisive and just not the player we saw take the Bundesliga by storm over the course of his young career.

How to unlock him remains the biggest mystery in Iraola's career. It could also determine the success of the Spaniard's time at Anfield.

Meet Liverpool's next Coutinho - Erik Farkas

The Reds had two priorities to sort out this summer. Liverpool regard Joshua Abe and Erik Farkas as two of their biggest talents.

Both attracted the interest of a host of clubs from England and abroad. But both Liverpool have now managed to secure an agreement with to sign a professional contract.

Abe agreed his over the summer, and Liverpool confirmed they had agreed a deal with Farkas on Friday.

This is a huge deal for the Reds. Farkas has that Coutinho quality about him. He can unlock any defence, he is blessed with a fantastic football IQ and a great vision and technical quality.

Like Coutinho he's mastered those through balls with the outside of his foot.

He is a pure magician and a sheer joy to watch. And thankfully Liverpool have managed to sign his services for the foreseeable future.
