Mika Baur struck in the 52nd minute with a close-range finish, giving Celtic a 1-0 victory at St Johnstone. It was his first goal for the club.

He timed his run to the back post to meet Haissem Hassan's low pass and steered it into the bottom left corner (52.). The movement broke a stubborn home block and swung the game towards the Bhoys.

Late on, he almost added an assist when his clipped cross found Shumaira Mheuka, whose header was saved in the second minute of second half stoppage time.

Beyond the winner, Baur's work rate and distribution told: 17 successful final third passes, five possession regains and four tackles underlined how he linked attacks and kept St Johnstone penned back.

Because the visitors built patiently and fed their right side, he repeatedly found space to deliver and combine, ensuring the Hoops controlled the key phases.

The Bhoys remain top of the Premiership on 18 points. They visit Rangers in the Scottish League Cup next, while St Johnstone host Falkirk in the Premiership.
