Ibrahim Said decided the game in the 85th minute with a low right-footed finish, giving Motherwell a 2-1 win over Hibernian.
He burst through on a fast break and ran onto Dylan Williams' pass before steering it into the bottom right from the centre of the box. The move came after Motherwell had absorbed pressure from Hibs and looked to spring transitions.
Late on, he almost added another telling contribution when he slipped Alexander Lowry in for a left-side effort in the third minute of second half stoppage time, which was saved.
Said's display was built on constant threat between the lines: two attempts, one goal, seven successful dribbles and nine possessions won. He also completed 30 of 34 passes and supplied two key passes, repeatedly carrying Motherwell up the pitch.
The fast-break pattern suited him. With space to drive at retreating defenders, his direct running forced the Hibees back and kept Motherwell in control of the decisive moments.
Motherwell visit HJK in the UEFA Conference League next, while the Hibees face Shkëndija in the same competition.
