Joe Westley converted a penalty in the 23rd minute to set Dundee up for a 2-1 win over Motherwell. The forward's opener proved the platform for a hard-fought afternoon at Dens Park.

VAR confirmed the spot kick before Westley drilled low into the bottom left. The calm finish shifted the tone, giving Dundee control against a Motherwell side that had started brightly.

After the restart he stayed dangerous. Westley's left-footed effort from the left of the box was tipped to safety by Alex Paulsen (60.). Moments later, his header from centre-forward position drew another save after Imari Samuels' cross (72.).
