Cameron Archer created the breakthrough in the 24th minute with a simple pass, as Southampton beat Blackburn Rovers 3-0. The forward later struck to cap a dominant, chance-laden display.
He set the tone early, drifting off the front line to demand the ball and feed the opener, which settled Saints and put them in control.
After the restart he kept pushing. A rising effort was saved (32.). Another drive was blocked as pressure built (53.). He then arrived in the box to sweep in from Léo Scienza's pass (86.).
Archer finished with five attempts, two on target, plus one goal and one assist. He also logged nine touches in the box, underlining how often he occupied dangerous central spaces.
With 58.4% possession, Saints could keep feeding their runner between defenders. His movement repeatedly disrupted Blackburn Rovers' back line and ensured Saints dictated the key moments.
Saints rise from fifth to fourth in the Championship. They visit Swansea City next. Blackburn Rovers face Coventry City next.
