Yan Dhanda converted a penalty in the fifth minute of first half stoppage time to set up Dundee's 1-0 win over Falkirk.
Early on, the midfielder's delivery at set plays created headed danger and his own efforts from the right edge were repeatedly blocked. When VAR confirmed the spot kick just before the interval, Dhanda swept his finish into the bottom left to break the deadlock.
After the restart he kept carrying Dundee up the pitch, and he fed Drey Wright for a strike that Scott Bain held (72.) as The Bairns pressed for a response.
Dhanda finished with five attempts, two key passes and five recoveries, a blend that underlined both his threat and his graft without the ball.
Because he consistently found and used pockets in the final third, his eight successful passes in that zone helped Dundee manage territory and see the game out as pressure grew.
Dundee host Kilmarnock next. The Bairns welcome Aberdeen.
